Peptide therapy has moved quickly from research settings into wellness clinics across Los Angeles, and the gap between how it is marketed and what is actually established has widened just as fast. Most of what you will read online skips the part that matters most, which is the regulatory status of these compounds and what supervision actually involves.

Elevate Health Group offers physician-supervised peptide protocols at our Glendale and La Cañada locations. This page explains what peptide therapy is, where it sits with the FDA, and what a properly supervised programme requires before anything is prescribed.

What Peptides Are

Peptides are short chains of amino acids that act as signalling molecules in the body. The body produces many of them naturally, and researchers have studied synthetic versions for their potential role in metabolic, recovery, and growth hormone pathways.

That research is genuinely interesting and genuinely incomplete. Emerging evidence suggests certain sequences may interact with these pathways. What has not been established, for most of the compounds marketed in wellness settings, is proven therapeutic benefit in humans at a standard the FDA recognises.

The Regulatory Picture, Stated Plainly

This is the section most peptide pages omit, and it is the one you should weigh most heavily.

The peptides most commonly offered in longevity and wellness practices, including BPC-157, TB-500, AOD-9604, ipamorelin, CJC-1295, GHRP-6, and sermorelin, are not FDA approved for therapeutic use in humans. Sermorelin holds a limited historical approval but is now widely used in compounded form outside its original labelled indication, which is not the same as being approved.

Several peptide substances also sit on the FDA's list of bulk drug substances that may present significant safety risks when used in compounding. As of this writing that list includes GHRP-2, GHRP-6, ibutamoren mesylate, ipamorelin acetate, and kisspeptin-10.

None of this means peptide research is meritless. It means the honest framing is exploratory, not therapeutic, and any provider telling you otherwise is overstating what is known.

Why Supervision Is the Point, Not a Formality

The real distinction in this category is not which clinic has the longer menu. It is whether a licensed physician is designing the protocol, holds your medical history, and is accountable for what happens next.

Medical history reviewedNoYes, before anything is prescribed

Elevate Health Group does not offer self-sourced or unsupervised programmes. Every protocol is designed and monitored by a licensed physician, and we do not market or recommend any compound for a use the FDA has not approved.

What the Evaluation Involves

Before any protocol begins, patients complete:

  • A comprehensive consultation covering full medical history and current medications
  • Baseline laboratory work through our on-site laboratory
  • A discussion of what current research does and does not support for the pathway being considered
  • A written informed consent process documenting the non-approved status of the protocol
  • An agreed monitoring schedule, including follow-up labs where indicated
  • Optional body composition assessment or metabolic testing so any change is measured objectively

Individual responses vary and outcomes are not guaranteed.

Why We Do Not Publish Peptide Pricing Online

Patients ask this often, so it is worth answering directly.

We do not list peptide pricing on our website, and that is deliberate. Protocols are individualised following consultation and lab review, so any published figure would be a number attached to a programme that may not be clinically appropriate for you. Publishing prices alongside compounds that are not FDA approved also sits uncomfortably close to advertising them as products rather than supervised medical protocols.

You will receive clear, itemised costs during your consultation, before you commit to anything. If a provider quotes you a price before reviewing your history and labs, that tells you something about the order of their priorities.

What to Ask Any Peptide Provider

  • Is this compound FDA approved for the use you are describing to me?
  • Which pharmacy is compounding it, and are they state licensed or FDA registered?
  • What baseline labs will you run, and what will you monitor afterwards?
  • Which physician is responsible for my protocol, and will I see them again?
  • What is your plan if I have an adverse reaction?

A provider who answers all five clearly is operating the way this should be operated. For more on our broader approach, see our longevity services and meet our physicians.

Service Area

Peptide protocols are available at our Glendale and La Cañada locations, serving patients across Burbank, Pasadena, Toluca Lake, and greater Los Angeles County. Care is available in Armenian, Persian, Russian, and Spanish as well as English.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most peptides offered in wellness settings are not FDA approved for therapeutic use in humans. Some are available through compounding pharmacies, which is a different regulatory pathway from FDA approval. Any provider should tell you the status of a specific compound before you consent to it, and we state it plainly as part of our consent process.
Yes. A comprehensive consultation, medical history review, baseline labs, and written informed consent are required before any protocol begins. We do not prescribe peptides without them.
That depends entirely on what you are taking, which is why the medication review happens before anything is prescribed rather than after. Bring a complete current list, including supplements, to your consultation.
Material sold online is often of unverified origin, purity, and handling, with no medical oversight and no accountability if something goes wrong. The FDA has flagged safety concerns with several peptide substances used in compounding. A supervised protocol addresses sourcing, screening, monitoring, and responsibility.
Nobody can honestly answer that in advance. The research on most of these compounds is preliminary, individual responses vary, and results are not guaranteed. What a physician can do is review whether a protocol is reasonable given your history, and monitor what happens.

If you are considering peptide therapy, the most useful first step is a conversation with a physician who will tell you candidly what is established and what is not.
